Welcome to Contributing Blogger, Kim Santini!

Art Career Experts is so pleased to be able to welcome our special guest contributor, Kimberly Santini. We asked her to share with our readers a little of her background history as an introduction before sharing some of her many successful art ventures in an article. We felt that her story would be an inspiration to other artists. Kim made life altering decisions, opting to leave Corporate America and be a stay at home mom. She has faced not only all the challenges of an artist entrepreneur but all the challenges that a family brings! We look forward to her upcoming articles. You may comment on any of our articles in this ACE blog ! Be sure and visit Kim's site where you will be able to get a fuller understanding of what she does and is doing in her art career! -

KIM:

I'm delighted to become a contributing blogger to Art Career Experts (ACE). My goal is to write contributions that share my particular path (which is not the only path, but simply one of the many options available) and begin a dialogue about the possibilities that exist for you, the reader.

I truly believe that talent alone does not ensure success. Hard work, drive and common sense do. A little creativity also helps.

I am, Kim Santini, a fellow creative soul, a daily painter, with my own in-home studio. I specialize in commissioned portraiture. I am ever so grateful for my clients who are willing to wait, sometimes up to a year, for me to complete their paintings.

While I seemingly painted in the womb, I am relatively new to the business side of art. How did I learn? Along the way I talked to those more accomplished than myself and modeled my operations after tried and true methods.

There's really no re-invention of the wheel happening - it's just a matter of figuring out what works in which circumstances and applying that knowledge accordingly.

I'm the first to admit that I although I continue to learn every day, I also realize how much I have to share. I've made mistakes and gotten lucky with a few good decisions. I have no qualms sharing these ups and downs with you.............

Theresa:

Read the rest of Kim's introduction in the ACE blog! To see what she creates, pop over to her site www.TurtledoveDesigns.com! Keep an eye out for her upcoming articles in the ACE newsletter!

In the meantime we have some great articles coming up which deal with a number of different aspects of both the challenges and the rewards of making an income from your art!

We have been busy at both large and small shows as well as actively marketing our work and ourselves online and in real time.

Although the jury is still out on engaging in too many social networking sites (it's the TIME involved, folks!), we HAVE reconnected with a few of our previous clients via Facebook and that has resulted in some art orders. SO we will keep monitoring the results of those online venues!

Particular Questions or comments in regards to marketing your creative Art product are welcome, and who knows, we may share them with everyone in the ACE newsletter!

What an uplifting newsletter! Attitude is everything.....

Thanks, Pat

Theresa,
Not long ago I purchased the "Art for Sale" CD set and I want to thank you for the realistic advice you shared. It became clear that there
are more venues, even in my small town, than just a gallery setting. I was encouraged to spend time dissecting my profit and loss. My biggest
annual expense - paid advertising -  was only paying the publications with no return to me, ever.

Thank you too for the wonderful, magical phrase....
Wow, what a difference that has made.... It has been a terrific icebreaker. Bottom line: sales have increased.

Your CD set was money well spent. Thanks again!
Paula

Does your website read like an art history text?....but in a curiously formal way her works presuppose a patina of desuetude, a virtual apotheosis of its usaual affect and quotidian function.....Or even worse, like a review written by an art critic?

I love the book.  Even in my poop scoop business I emphasize professionalism in dress and behavior.  It makes a difference.  As I was reading, I did see how while i am great at sales, dress well, etc, my confidence about my art needs some work.  Sure i am not the best, but my work is pretty good and I just need to market myself differently!  I look forward to following your guidelines and success in this year!  Thank you for creating this venues."
