Pets
are an
important part
of our lives
and many of my clients ask for their pets to be included in a family
portrait or in their own individual portraits!
I spent 15 years as a dog show handler (and people always asked me why
I was carrying a pooper scooper rather than paint brushes!) During that
time I had a 100 run boarding and training kennel and cattery as well
as a herd of Nubian dairy goats and several Belgian draft horses! Oh,
yes, let's not forget the chickens! So when someone asks me "can you
draw a dog?" I just laugh and ask them if they need it groomed as well?
Years of working with people and their pets in every imaginable
circumstance has given me the opportunity to not only accurately depict
their pets, but also an insight into the relationships that people have
with their animals. For some, a dog or cat is a family pet, for others,
it is their child. Even if I have not met the animal, owners share the
photos, stories and memories with me and together we create their
portrait.

Hey,
Did I ever get with
you to tell you how much we loved the
painting of Cinzano and Otis? They were both Beautiful and Butch and
Olivia and I loved them! THANK you! You captured Otis perfectly for
never meeting him!

This
is amazing! I am sure you hear this all the time. but you
have
truly captured Bello. I am especially touched by his
eyes....they are so expressive....this is exactly the way he would
look up at you from his bed at horse shows......You are so
talented...I am genuinely blown away. Thank you so much!! |

This
portait of Ernie and Sam was created for Wendy Paul. Here is what Wendy
had
to say, "The portrait of Sam and Ernie is AWESOME! I
absolutely
love it. It arrived yesterday, and it was put in the front
hall
immediately. I had 7 people for dinner last night, and
everyone
adored it. Thank you, so much. It is one of the
best things
I ever thought to do."

Another
dog portrait. This cameo pastel is at the other end of the scale from a
large oil painting. The soft pastel creates an intimate study
of
a constant friend.
