Bits
and Pieces... This fall
has flown by and it's time to update everyone as to where we are, have
been and are going! October and November are pretty much horse show months for us. We set up our art booth Oct 1 at the Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, NC for the NC State Fair Hunter Jumper show, then NC State Fair horse shows. November sees us still there for the "C" show then of course, the Duke Jump for the Children Show and RMI. It is a great opportunity to see our work up front and personal, compare sizes, various media and in general, see what the Internet can't show you with art! We are
always creating new paintings and portraits! I do offer portrait
specials at times through Facebook, so if you have not tagged me as a
friend, which is how I an set up, come on and be the first to know when
my pastel specials run! http://www.facebook.com/mtheresabrown For those who have asked, my super fun to create abstract paintings do not yet have their own page but you can see them at the shows and watch for their eventual website page. I post them on my Facebook page as I complete them however. I love your comments as there are many hidden elements within the paintings and it's fun to hear how you enjoy discovering them! Below is a view from a porthole to the Beaufort post office. It was the first time we have rowed back and forth to an art show! With a current of up to 6 knots and the gusrty wonds that weekend, it was a bit comical at times but we all stayed dry.

Back near home, we enjoyed ourselves at the Raleigh NCHJA show just before July 4 A group of kids had a blast at our "Paint a Pony" event we held at the show. Luckily we were in the A/C of the cafeteria and all proceeds benefitted Danny and Ron's rescue!
Theresa went on to teach two summer art camps-a sculpture art camp and painting camp before joining Steve at the Blowing Rock Horse Show!

On to the NC Mountains: Something about the cool mountains in July and August makes it a show that everyone enjoys. Steve's artwork this year for the poster: was designed to commemorate the late LP Tate. Steve stayed super busy painting everything from dogs to ponies, box seats to barns and leadline exhibitors to borrowed horses. You can see more of these paintings on Steve's blogpost Afterwards, we always stay on a few days to exjoy the sights in the area :-) |

Steve will hold down the fort the end of August as Theresa flies to Seattle to join her daughter, Kelly who is expecting her first child (a baby girl) the end of the month. Hard to believe (well, for me)
You can see Steve back at the Warrenton Horse Show in Warrenton, VA this August 29-Sept 2. It's been a few years since we were at this great old show and are looking forward to going back and painting in one of my favorite painting locations, Farquier County VA. |
