On The Road Again…..
Well we’re back on the road again after 2 weeks at shows in Blowing Rock, NC. Our next set of shows is in Raleigh at the Hunt Complex October 1-5. The North Carolina State Fair starts right after that but this year we won’t be there. We are looking forward to a trip through Pennsylvania before returning to the Hunt Complex for the Duke and UNC shows.

What’s New in the Art Studio

There’s always something new at the studio! Steve had a successful show in Aiken, SC at the Aiken Center for the Arts the month of September where he has over 70 paintings displayed! This weekend he teaches a plein air workshop at the same Center before collecting any unsold paintings and returning back to the studio. It’s not too late to bring your paints and join the group who will be painting outdoors with Steve! You can contact the center at (803) 641-9094.

Contact us both soon if you are thinking of commissioned portraits or artwork for Christmas gifts! To view available paintings by Steve, pop over to his site where paintings may be purchased online! Pretty cool huh?

Above are two portraits Theresa was commissioned to do at the Blowing Rock Horse Show this past summer. Tulip is owned by Missy Luczak of Charlotte, NC and lives at Robbie Hunt's Hunter's Lane barn, (Tulip, not Missy).
Mailinn is a trainer in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mailinn's mom commissioned the portrait along with a portrait of Mailinn's niece Emily and her pony Outrageous

A couple of recent paintings from the Devon Horse Show by Steve.  The  lower left is the "Old Times" coach. I was commissioned to do a painting of it in front of the barn at Devon as a gift for its owners. "Old Times" ran a route from London to Brighton back in the 19th century.  In a celebrated wager in 1888, James Selby drove the coach from London to Brighton and back in less that 8 hours. His finishing time of 7 hours and 50 minutes won him £1000, quite a sum back then. When I went to look at the coach at Devon last May, I found that it had been sent for restoration. Serendipitously, it was being restored near Asheboro, NC less than ninety miles from our home. :

Art Trivia
Impressionism was given its name from one of Monet's pictures, Impression: Sunrise.

People have been painting things for the past 20,000 years, but it wasn't until 1880 that you could purchase ready mixed paints
