Happy Halloween! Nothing says fall like the month of October!  In the NC Mountains the peak colors  arrive around mid October and it is worth a weekend drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway to absorb and enjoy the amazing scenery. Here in the Piedmont, we have always found that the end of October into the first week of November produces the stunning colors of fall. We have sugar maples in our yard that recreate the incredible colors  those trees bring to a color palette!

Everyone has adjusted to their schedules, the animals are growing their winter coats and ....well actually our Corgi, Rosie, is shedding enough so that the piles of hair we brushed from her coat look like a lot like a dead animal in the yard.

Amy, the eldest daughter, was married October 3 on the beach at Avon NC and it was a beautifully simple wedding. Well no wedding is simple but it was as simple as it could have been with a gorgeous day, beautiful bride, and all the guests barefoot in the sand.
The day started with storms but thankfully  cleared to welcome the newlyweds to a new life! So what are they getting from us for a wedding present? A portrait of course! I'll post images as I progress with the oil.

The baby goats, Taffy and Hershy are much more slender than a pygmy goat  and the Alpine in them will make them taller than their mother and aunt. This should be interesting. They continue to move like greased lightning.

What’s New in the Art Studio
September kept us busy with several horse show events at the Hunt Complex in Raleigh. There was a Dressage show, a Championship Show featuring gaited horses and the recent NCHJ A show.
October 10 was a busy  Art show (Autumn Arts Festival) in downtown Wake Forest, NC
Now we gear up  for the NC State Fair show series which will last through October 25.
Check our schedule for complete details!

Steve’s 100 paintings in a 100 days  art project has reached its milestone!  Sign up for his special blog and join him on his unique journey of art, discovery and giving! It's been popular and  fun. Want to see what's available and what has been sold? Just pop over to the site.
He will begin to mix some larger paintings among them but they will all be labeled. They make outstanding Christmas gifts! His “Foggy morning at Blowing Rock” is now proudly in the collection of C. Schubert

Theresa's second studio is located at the Cotton Company in downtown historic Wake Forest.  It is a good mix of gallery and convenience for our portrait clients.
A complete series of our portraits are displayed in the studio and it's open to the public 7 days a week . I don't have to be in the studio for you to view the artwork.  The second Friday of each month is Art After Hours. Come see us and enjoy the art , music and refreshments from 6-9 pm!

For 11 years we have partnered with a Gallery at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh NC .  The Village Gallery is in a great central location to meet clients who are coming from the southern regions. Don't be shy in asking us to meet you there rather than drive up to Wake Forest or Franklinton.

TOTES ARE BACK!

We have had a lot of requests from clients for our popular TOTE bags! They are 14 x 14 muslin carry all bags with an image of your recent portrait on them, along, we cheerfully admit, with our website on it!  We include a  FREE tote with your portrait order!  You can, of course, order more tote bags or an 11 x 14 print of the portrait (the largest we can do) for only an additional $25.00 each. They make amazing gifts for relatives!

For those of you who would like Christmas cards for the Holidays of the artwork we have created for you, let us know who your printer is and we can send a digital file of the artwork to you or them.

We probably don't really need to remind everyone that if a portrait or painting is on your gift list this year, contact us now!

Christmas Club and Layaway

We never forget that it's our clients who keep us in business! Art IS our business! So when a couple of clients asked us about having a layaway plan in preparation for the Christmas Holidays, we  thought it was a great idea!

Let us know if your portrait or art painting is something you want for a Holiday gift and if you want to make simple, no interest payments up through the week before Christmas!

We certainly accept all the charge cards as well as Paypal and regular checks work too!

Actually the Christmas Club was originally a bank idea and Layaway has become popular again in all the retail stores. If you would like to have us work out a plan for you, just ask!

An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered.  An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered.

The difference between ordeal and adventure is attitude.

Barn Radio Station of the Month

I moved from Philadelphia to North Carolina back in 1981. I ended up in the small town of Wake Forest northeast of Raleigh. Back then, Wake Forest had plenty of places to eat...for breakfast and lunch. You had to go home for supper. Downtown stores closed at 5 and at noon on Wednesdays.  And all the stores were downtown. I was pleasantly suprised to find that Wake Forest was also home to a radio station playing  classical music 24 hours a day. WCPE 89.7 FM.

As much as Wake Forest has grown over the years, WCPE has grown that much more. Now broadcasting with 100,000 watts, and also providing its signal through internet streaming, satellite signal and through cable, WCPE has a truly international reach. And it is all supported by contributions from its listeners. For more information or to listen go to
