Musings

Boy this is a crazy month and it will stay that way for awhile! SO I am squeezing out this newsletter with some fun stuff to watch and read rather than what I had originally planned-some links to drawing sites for blooming artists! I’m thinking that after Christmas, when things are somewhat settled and we all have our resolutions fresh in mind, is a good time to start the art section of the newsletter.

  This Month's Laugh

Let’s start it off right with a video that made me laugh out loud. Although it is labeled for the beginning and end of the work week, it would work equally well applied to almost anything (start and end of a horse show, children’s competition, in-law visit)
 Fridays vs Mondays
Remember, if you have a funny, G-rated video clip that you think we should add, let us know!

What is  October without HALLOWEEN? Here is something to waste your time in a mindless

What’s New

Speaking of the end of October, remember the Virginia Equine Extravaganza in Richmond the weekend of October 27-29. I’ll be in the Old Dominion building in booth 2210 with all the portraits and Steve, with  his ever popular paintings  will be in the Richmond building, booth 205. Both of us will be demonstrating. There will be a lot of popular clinicians there including John Lyons and Lynn Palm.

Old Barns at the Warrenton Horse Show
This newsletter will come out too late to let everyone know that Steve is featured at  “All the King’s Horses” gallery in Leesburg, VA October 14 with his paintings.  But, hey, why not announce it?

November will find us in Raleigh NC again for the Triangle Farms "c" Show, the Duke Show and the UNC Show. Here is our schedule
I have added a mini gelding to our menagerie. “Stormy” is one of the little ones and his job will be to show Shadow, our black mini filly, that there are things that horses do and things that they do not do. Pastured with her blind mother and two drawf Nigerian goats, Shadow interacts as a goat. No joke. Tries to climb the fences to greet us.  If she could climb the ramp to the goats playhouse, she would.  They run up there to escape her when she becomes playful. If you remember, her dam is blind and simply does not cavort around the pasture like a “normal” horse. Time will tell if I have solved the problem or doubled it!

Speaking of horses, my wonderful Haflinger gelding, Alf, came home from the NCSF with a third, a second and a first place in his classes. I have him over at Seaborne Farm outside of Creedmoor, NC where I first sent him in June to get the weight off. We called it “fat camp.” If you are familiar with the good natured Haflinger you will also know that that they gain weight off of air. Pretty amazing

Quote of the Day:

“A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.”
