  This and That

Autumn in the Blue Ridge

Fall.  The memories start at birth! It's school, Halloween, football and Thanksgiving.

Brilliant blue skies, frost on the pumpkins and the whirlwind of activities packed into just a few months that gains amazing momentum!  Who doesn't love Fall and the changes that come with it each year?

You don't need to be an artist to appreciate all those colors that we come to associate with the season:  brilliant oranges, yellows and reds. The  rusts, browns, and all the earth tones.

And it isn't just the visual signs. The smell of wood fires begin to permeate the air and the scents of holiday treats that only come out once a year...start coming out now!

Of course now that we have squeaked past Halloween, we can say "Happy Thanksgiving!"

Steve will be in Middleburg, VA Nov 4, 5, 6 (Thursday through Saturday) at the Emmanual Church Christmas Shop.  Although this is a known event in Middleburg, there is not a website!

I'll be at the Holiday Art show in Louisburg, NC on Saturday Nov 6 so we are busy being On The Road  after a month of shows in Raleigh NC.

In our last newsletter I had completed a large 30 x 40 oil for my Warrenton client and now am happy to have completed a 24 x 36 bridal oil!  Anna is as lovely as her portrait and we wish her every happiness in her upcoming wedding.

Now I have made room on the easel for another 30 x 40 oil of four children and their lively Lab!
A number of clients responded to our client Thank You special and I am working on those cameo pastel portraits.  When working on a large oil, one often has to stop and let the oils dry and it is during those times away from the large paintings that I enjoy working on the smaller ones.

Our Thank you special was so successful that Steve is offering one to his collectors. If you are a collector of Steve's work and have not received his email, please contact him (sfilarsky@aol.com)  for the details.

STEVE PAINTING

Our Art of the Carolinas is almost here!  Nov 11, 12 and 13  from 5-8, are the dates of our three workshops!  We have been helping  artists for many years and joined forces with Jerrysartarama to offer workshops at their nationwide extravaganza, Art of the Carolinas this month. http://www.jerrysartevents.com/artofca20.html   Each workshop touches on particulars  and it feels good to be able to offer help, encouragement and  support to all the artists who ask us for help.

Laugh of the month

If you are a horse lover and have not seen this delightful example of a 6 year old child's perseverance with his naughty pony, then enjoy this clip! The good news is that there is a followup where the perseverance obviously paid off! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUaP0t5IUnM
