 The Gorge near Blowing Rock Horse Show

 Three Generations

Every summer families all over America take the Great Road Trip to...somewhere! It can be somewhere exotic or your annual trip to the beach or mountain vacation.  For us, spending two weeks outside the beautiful NC mountain town of Blowing Rock is our Great Vacation. OK, maybe it is a working vacation as we are participating in the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show. But it's hard to feel like you're working in such a stunning location. Add to that the fact that it is always much cooler there than anywhere else , and there you have it.  The perfect mountain getaway.  
When you find yourself drawn to such a location and  absorbing the views and mountains rivers and waterfalls with an absolute peace, it seems like there must be ancestral genes imbedded in your DNA somewhere!
Wherever your Great Road Trip took you this summer or on your Labor Day holiday, we hope it built some great memories for you!

And guess what? Our daughter Amy welcomed Molly Kathryn Boggs into the world on August 25. The little 7lb 15 oz bundle of joy will, I suspect, become one of our newer models! Mom and baby are doing great. 

  
 What’s New in the Art Studio

Workshops

 Closer to home, Steve's art workshop "Small Paintings for Big Results" was a sell out on August 14 ! It was held at the Jerry's Art Store in Raleigh NC and the participants were delighted to leave the one day workshop with 2 and 3 completed miniature paintings to show off to family and friends.

I am hard at work completing several large oils as well as a number of small pastels for clients and a few are here.

Steve has been  busy painting as well. (actually he is always painting). Blowing Rock, of course, provided beautiful subjects.

For Steve's collector's he is offering something new! Check out the perfect gift for the horseman or animal lover in your life!  These custom ties can only be found on our website!

You may remember that he is also a master gilder. His expertise with gold leaf is much  in demand with members of organizations such as the Antique and Classic Boat Society. Boat owners commission his hand lettered gold leaf for their beautiful restored classic boats!  
 

 

AND, later this month, our studio will be open for two weekends in a row for the annual Wake Forest Area Artists Studio Tour!  Mark the weekends of September 25-26 and October 2-3. Come see the facilities of  working artists!  We have ponies, goats and dogs so you must be able to wade through animals to get to the studio

 We have been helping other artists for many years and joined forces with the Raleigh Jerry's store for monthly art marketing workshops.  We will also be holding some special workshops at their nationwide trade show extravaganza, Art of the Carolinas this fall. Each workshop touches on particulars  and it feels good to be able to offer help, encouragement and  support to all the artists who ask us for help! It's even cooler that some of the local colleges have asked us to speak to their students :-) Look  up Art Career Experts on Facebook and become a fan! Keep an ear open for our painting workshops coming up in Raleigh!
