Single palm at Wellington

Whats been happening...

If you want to see how fast time flies, just try to send out a timely newsletter!  We have friends who tell us they are going somewhere exotic for a week.  They go. They return. Yet somehow our week continued as usual and it’s hard to believe they even went anywhere!

But we have just returned from several weeks at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida where we felt we were somewhere exotic! While the rest of the nation struggled with late winter storms, we enjoyed beautiful, high seventies, low eighties temperatures.

We stayed at the Lion Country Safari KOA where every morning you awoke to the sounds of lions roaring.  It was a  bit disconcerting to walk the dogs to the dog park before going to the show grounds and hear these lions seeming as though they were on the other side of a big thicket of trees.  They sounded about 50 feet away. The whole experience felt like we were in one of those old Tarzan movies-same bird calls, lion sounds and shrieking Gibbon monkeys.

The show was great! We were situated near the entrance to the International ring and had a great view of the high caliber of International riders who rode in the Grand Prix events.  If you did not see Steve painting on the show grounds, you can see some of the incredibly beautiful scenes he painted by visiting  his Wellington paintings page!

What’s getting ready to Happen

Our next big destination is California!  We will be at the Indian Wells Arts Festival  near Palm Springs for their April 3-5 art show.
We debated all the options of getting out there from NC but decided with all  the art material that we carry to have an adventure and just drive!  We’ll be in booths B13 and B14 and Steve will add some of his California plein air paintings to his portfolio by the time the show starts!

So stay tuned for the California or Bust adventure!  And of course, check our schedule for our other show destinations!

Dog Alert for pet owners!
In our last newsletter we said...

Did you notice that there are a lot of dog paintings in this newsletter?  Actually, there are a least a half dozen or more that I am not showing as they are going to be Christmas presents and I would hate to be the one to  let the cat out of the bag.. so check back in January for even more dog portraits...

So here are some more dog portraits. Go to RECENT PORTRAITS to see more.

Even Steve was painting dogs.

Quote of the day

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.
